Who we are

SlateCinema is a film and television recommendation app operated by PF DataStack LLC ((“PF DataStack LLC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”)). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

Email address — required to create and access your account. We use a one-time passcode (OTP) sent by email for authentication. No passwords are stored.
Display name / nickname — optional, used to personalise your experience.
Swipe decisions — which films and series you align with, pass on, mark as watched, or snooze. This is the core data that powers your taste profile.
Taste profile — a derived summary of your genre preferences, favourite directors, and actors, built entirely from your swipe history.
Trakt.tv watch history — only if you choose to connect your Trakt account. We import your ratings, watch history, and watchlist to improve recommendations. Your Trakt credentials are never stored; only an access token is retained.

We do not collect location data, payment information, contacts, or any device sensor data.

How we use your data

To authenticate you and maintain your session.
To generate personalised film and TV recommendations.
To power the “Collision State” feature when household members align on the same title.
To send you your access code by email (transactional only — no marketing without consent).
To improve the accuracy of SlateCinema’s AI recommendations over time.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-party services

TMDB (The Movie Database) — used to fetch film and TV metadata, posters, and trailers. Your swipe data is never sent to TMDB.
Resend — used to deliver access-code and welcome emails. Your email address is processed by Resend solely for message delivery.
Trakt.tv — only accessed when you explicitly connect your account.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on a private server. We use token-based authentication and do not store plaintext passwords. Access to your data is restricted to your account session.

SlateCinema is a small independent application. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is perfectly secure. We recommend using a non-sensitive email nickname if you prefer additional privacy.

Data retention

Your account and associated swipe history are retained for as long as you use SlateCinema. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will fulfil deletion requests within 30 days.

Children

SlateCinema is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your rights

Access the data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your account and data.
Withdraw Trakt.tv access at any time from your profile menu.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as SlateCinema evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of SlateCinema after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
